I wanted to explain my absence. My DN Barbara died after Christmas of cancer. She only lived two and a half months after diagnoses. I shall miss her wicked sense of humor.
My DSL Mary fell in the evening and was not found the next morning. She has a broken hip. She has had surgery and will be receiving rehab for some time.
Finally DD Shirl's Aunt and Mentor is in the final stages of Alzheimers. Shirl is trying to get to OKC in time to be with her.
All in all not my favorite start to a year.

I'm sorry to be MIA. I will try to make it up as soon as things settle down.

Wow, it's been a long time but I'm back. I still love to cross stitch but i also have been doing some crochet and knitting. My new adventure is quilting and I can't wait to get started. Of course that means I have to cleanup and organize my craft room. But what is life without challenges???

I know I'm late but I have an excuse. DH complained about ort jar being foggy so he tried to wash it and wouldn't yo know it broke. Ha ha he didn't know I had two. But I washed it too so he wouldn't be embarrassed.

As you can see I done a lot of frogging again the month.

Weekend Stitching

Sorry, no pictures yet. I've been stitching on a model for my LNS and just not taken time to do a snap of it. I'm also stitching "Home" the first ornament from Brook's new Bride's Tree set, Peacock Purse etui and LNH's new seasonal sampler. I'll get pictures and more info. together when I get home tonight but wanted to post an update just in case I forget.

TUSAL for March and a finish

Here is March as you can see the frogs have taken up residence in ShayLand. {{sigh}}

This is my first big finish of 2011. It's for my LNS and as soon as I delivered it she gave me another. So it's fingers to the needle.

TUSAL for February

My picture is a little crocked but every thing above the white paper is for January. A fairly heave month of frogging. {sigh} And February is starting out the same way. I've been working on


Raise the Roof Designs, Christmasland this week. I thought I would make great progress but a lass not to be. Tuesday was inclement weather so I stayed home but needed to finish organizing my charts and books. Wednesday morning was the same except some time during the night the motor to the heater fan died. DH bought a few parts to tried to fix it but we ended up waiting for the repair man to come at 4:30 pm. By 6:00 pm we had heat. trying to bring the house back to 69 degrees from 53 degrees, when the temp. outside was 12 degrees, was a long process. By Thursday morning it was nice and toasty again just in time to go back to work.
Stitching with gloves and two comforters on just didn't happen. I ended up sleeping until it was supper time. We had soup.. what else.

My "up for a challenge" update

I been working on Mrs. Waddelow's Needlework basket from With My Needle. I did the thread winders and started the basket bottom. I had stitched the sides for the button bag in 2010.

I've moved on to VS's Winter Box. I still have the pincushion and scissor fob to stitch.

TUSAL & Winter Box & Up for the Challenge

I'm posting from DH's computer because mine is still at the puter Dr. I was careless and acquired a scam program I couldn't get rid of so off he went to someone more qualified to cure him.

I've joined the TUSAL. I must find a new container as my last one is full, full, full. However I'll have a good start by January 4, 2011.

Biscornu for Gillie

Gillie posted that she has received her biscornu in the Please Pass the Biscornu exchange. I is a hardanger on I designed for her with petite blanket stitch, kloster blocks, Algerian eyelets, woven bars with picots and square filets done in light and dark peach on white.

Gillie was pleased with the biscornu and unfortunately I will be dropping out of the exchange group as I have to slow down on my stitching and do some Physical Therapy for my back.

Mountmellick Lilly progress

I started the blanket stitching on one of the two lilies and soon found it will take longer than the cable stitching used to pad it. Wow I don't feel like I've made much progress. Not to say I'm getting bored this is still exciting that I'm finally making a project instead of just playing around.

Of course I'm still behind but that means I can go look at the real thing to make sure I'm doing it right.

I do have another project I will have to get back to. I took Options in Hardanger last year as a Group Correspondence Course (GCC) with my chapter of the EGA (Embroiders Guild of America).
It's an online chapter "Cyberstitchers" I didn't finish the course or submit the piece but this time I'm going to combine the two pieces and submit them together. So watch for this big, humongous Hardanger piece I'm be pulling out of my UFO some time soon.

Happy Thursday & Mountmellick SAL

I have decided to stitch the table runner because I have the perfect place for it on a vintage library table in the living room (that we never use). The table sits in front of the picture window with some of my Precious Moments collection and a few mementos from my grandmother.

I have dabbled with Mountmellick embroidery for several years but have never had chance to make sure I was doing the stitches correctly. This is a really privilege to see them done by Yvette and follow along. She and her sister Prue authored Mountmellick Inspired by Nature..

I purchased it and a kit ….hmm I don’t remember how long ago but never started because I needed more than a book to get started. Now I’m really jazzed with a real SAL.

I received the purchased the design in PDF format, from Yvette on Tuesday, then traced the design and started the chain stitch padding for the lilies that night. I tried to take a picture for the whole project but there was too much shine off the material for it to come out.

Last night I finished the chain stitching and started the blanket stitching but no picture of it yet. Any way I realized at 5:30 am that I started the blanket stitch wrong on the second part of the leaf so I will have some fogging to do when I get home tonight. Oh well I seem to have acquired a resident frog from some where so I’m just learning to live with it.

Even if you don’t want to stitch the design sign up for the mails so you can watch the progress of this lovely project.

This weekend will be very again so I’ll be indoors stitching most of the time. A little time must be spent on balancing the check book this month. It’s Stitchaholics (cross stitch) Friday night and Sit ‘n Stitch at Fiber Circle (knitting) on Sunday afternoon, good stitching friends and lots of temptation at the Fiber Circle.
